In The Impossible Gardens, the artist seeks a way to transport plants from one country to another. To bypass the regulations of the Canada Border Services Agency, the artist transforms living matter (plants that she propagates for several months) into inert matter. A withdrawal takes place. Matter dissipates, forms emerge, only the imprint remains, crumbling away and eventually disappearing.
Dans Les jardins impossibles, l’artiste cherche un moyen de faire voyager des plantes d’un pays à l’autre. En contournant les règlementations de l’Agence des services frontaliers du Canada, l’artiste transforme la matière vivante (des plantes qu’elle bouture pendant plusieurs mois) en matière inerte. Un retrait s’opère. La matière se perd, des formes se créent, il ne reste que l’empreinte qui s’effrite puis disparaît.
